The Brittas Empire Strikes Back

Brittas Empire 2 Logo

25th to 29th May 2027 at the Chrysalis theatre, Camphill, Milton Keynes

Welcome back to Whitbury New Town Leisure Centre, the empire of Gordon Brittas, a man with a unique management style and a dream!

Things are not going well for Gordon. In response to ongoing low visitor numbers and multiple accidents, the local council have decided enough is enough and Brittas needs to go. They urge him to apply for the role of an EU Commissioner of Leisure in Brussels – with their full support. As he contemplates the opportunity, Brittas decides to make some drastic staffing decisions, while in the centre, the toilets are backing up… Then, one month later, as Brittas prepares to depart for Brussels, further changes in the management are announced and the centre prepares for his farewell celebration… But is Brittas getting cold feet about the whole idea?

This play is the sequel to the first stage play of the Brittas Empire which we adapted and staged in 2025. Based on the popular BBC TV series by Richard Fegen and Andrew Norriss (starring actor Chris Barrie) this show is produced by kind permission of the origional writers and The Agency. The original show has been hailed as “the Fawlty Towers of the 1990s” due to its “fast-paced, outrageous comedy full of inventive gags”.  Read more about the original 1990s BBC TV series here.

Here is what our audiences said about our Brittas Empire production in 2025:

“Absolutely brilliant! One of the funniest remastered productions I have seen, probably laughed more than at the London shows we have seen! Well worth a watch!”

“Well done everyone. We had a fantastic time. So many laugh out loud moments!”

“The set looks awesome! Exactly like my old leisure centre!”

“I bloody loved it. Well done all!!”

“A clever script and a thoroughly enjoyable performance! So, so, good! Such a funny show! Well done!”

“Well done for such a great show. Much funnier than the original tv series. Really enjoyed it!”

“It was a thoroughly enjoyable show, the cast and crew did an amazing job. Another triumph by MKTOC!”

“Brittas was Brilliant!!! Loved it! We were cackling like a pair of school kids. We both adored it!”

“It. Was. Fab!”

“…The Brittas Empire was enormous fun. Brought to the stage with an evident love of the source material and by a hugely talented team. It’s well worth seeing, whether you have memories of the original or just want to see what crazy sitcoms we had in the nineties!”

“Our congratulations to you and the team for a memorable – indeed marvelous – comedy performance. Not only did you manage to capture the inimitable spirit of the original and now ‘classic’ show, but also added hard-to-define elements of your own, customising it as the Company’s own work!”
