A brand new stage script!

The Brittas Empire TV Sitcom was a huge hit in the 1990’s, depicting the adventures and multiple mishaps of Gordon Brittas, manager of Whitbury New Town Leisure Centre.

MKTOC were given permission to write and produce a stage adaptation by the writers of the original TV series, Richard Fegen and Andrew Norriss, which was premiered in Milton Keynes in May 2025 to rave reviews from our audiences. The script was created by MKTOC’s own Steve Clark and Emma Dell, with the full collaboration and support of the original writers.

We are delighted to have been given permission by the original writers and their agents, The Agency,  to offer this script wider to other groups for performance.

About the show:

The script runs for 2 hours in 2 Acts.

“Welcome to Whitbury New Town Leisure Centre, the empire of Gordon Brittas, a man with a unique management style and a dream! He has a receptionist who keeps her baby in a drawer, a wife on the verge of a nervous breakdown, a maintenance man who is suffering from a bizarre range of rare diseases, a team who can’t stand him and numerous enemies who want to see him sacked!”

“In what is just a typical week for the centre, the long-suffering staff and customers face an investigation into a theft, the visit of a local area inspector, gross insubordination from a deputy manager and a safety drill that ends in chaos, this adaptation seamlessly blends classic plots from the original TV series into one extremely funny storyline.”
